Graduation Numeracy Assessment
As part of the updated graduation requirements, all students are required to write a provincial numeracy assessment. The results of the numeracy assessment will be reported on students’ transcripts, using a four-point proficiency scale:
1 Emerging (initial understanding)
2 Developing (partial understanding)
3 Proficient (complete understanding)
4 Extending (sophisticated understanding)
Preparing for the Assessment
Before every assessment, we will provide support for students during flex blocks. Students will attend two sessions, one with a focus on answering questions and the other with a focus on understanding the structure of the assessment.
If students also wish to do some individual preparation, they can visit the Ministry website. There are pre-assessment activities for students to explore. These include the sample assessment and a series of videos that explain how to solve questions using the five numeracy processes.
